(No I'm not a blueberry farmer.)

I think that the brain is a sort of quantum computer, and from something I read (see link below), I learned that antioxidants operate on the basis of quantum principles. I thought that maybe if I were to take blueberries and split them with one of my family members, then I could create some quantum coherency (Spooky action at a distance) between us, and see what happens. Since we eat blueberries on our breakfast cereal every morning, this was easy to do. You are probably thinking that a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing about now. I've definitely taken a giant leap on the basis of one magazine article, this is cheap and easy to test, and the experience is first hand.

Oddly, after splitting blueberries with my daughter (7), I started having frequent and vivid dreams that I was able to remember with ease, and almost as well as any waking experience. This isn't what I expected. I think that I expected some kind of mind reading experience, but that didn't happen.

I split the blueberries like this: Take about 1/2 to a cup or so of frozen wild blueberries (Walmart $10), and line them up about 10 at a time in the edge groove of a cutting board. Use a large flat bladed knife (Butcher knife) to slice all of them at once. The berries will stick to either side of the blade. A large knife is easier to work with. If you tilt the knife over to one side after splitting, the berries adhere to the blade better. Put the halves of the berries on one side of the blade into one bowl, and the halves of the blueberries on the other side of the blade in the other bowl. You eat one bowl, and the other person eats the other bowl of berries. Essentially, you get a half of each blueberry, and the other participant gets the other half of each blueberry. I started noticing the dreams about nine days into this. I almost gave up at a week, but am glad that I didn't.

Although they probably think that I am excentric, my wife and kids were very patient and tolerated the experiment. My son won't eat blueberries on his cereal, but my wife and daughter will. When I split them with my daughter, I experienced the most dramatic affects.

I stopped the experiment after a few weeks several months ago because my wife and daughter prefer their blueberries whole. While this may all be a coincidence, shortly after stopping the experiment, the dreams tapered off. Since then, I've noticed that unless I make an extra special effort, I forget my dreams immediately upon waking. The dreams that I have are not particularly vivid and lack the richness of experience that I had during the experiment and for a time after.

Because of the experience of memorable and vivid dreams during the experiment, and their absence after ceasing the experiment, I strongly suspect that there is something to the idea that the brain operates at a quantum level. To function, the brain probably depends on internal quantum entanglements -- a sort of internal quantum coherency. I suspect that by splitting and sharing blueberries, I've created a level of external quantum coherency between myself and my daughter. In my case, the vivid and memorable dreams are the result.

If you try this, please comment here on this blog to report what you experience.

Summary:

Hypothesis: The brain is a sort of computer that operates on the basis of quantum principles employing quantum entanglement (Einstein's spooky action at a distance.) Internally, the entanglements are coherent, but external entanglements are incoherent. As the entangled electrons (or whatever) pass through the body they go into the environment and are lost. There is no natural quantum coherency with anything external to the brain.

The objective: Increase the quantum coherency between two brains and see what happens.

Action: Split and share blueberries with my daughter for a few weeks.

Result: Vivid and memorable dreams

Action: Stop splitting blueberries

Result: Dreams ceased.

Copy and paste the below link into your browser and read an article about how quantum physics works -- the article is interesting and easy to understand.

http://discovermagazine.com/2009/feb/13-is-quantum-mechanics-controlling-your-thoughts/?searchterm=quantum

12-30-09: Realizing that I had not experienced any memorable dreams in some months, On December 19th. 2009, I began splitting blueberries with my daughter (8) again. I've been splitting about a cup of blueberries each morning except I skipped the morning of December 26th. Nothing had happened to that point, and I almost decided to quit. However, on December 28, 2009 I began having memorable dreams, and on the 29th the dreams increased in number, intensity, and vividness. I had not experienced dreams like this in months -- not since ceasing the experiment in April 09.

1-5-10: I've continued splitting blueberries with my daughter, and the dreams continue to increase in intensity, and ease of recall. I also sleep better.
